Is Your Toddler Ready for Kindergarten?

I’m sure all of parents want their toddler to have the best possible advantage and want to ensure their child is ready for kindergarten. So it is a monumental moment when our toddler finally goes to kindergarten. Within the next few months most of parents everywhere will be deciding of whether their toddlers are ready for kindergarten in the fall, where parents are going to send them and what to expect when their toddlers get there.

Here are some things you can do to get your toddler ready for kindergarten:

Consider to send your toddler to preschool.
Always talk to your toddler all the time.
Always read to your toddler everyday.
You can sing and dance with your toddler.
Invite your toddler to library and pick out books together.
Let your toddler to count everything he or she looks at such as count people, cars, animal etc.

Toddlers or young children need to perform a number of things including listening to stories, paying attention, and recognizing numbers to 10 in order to be ready for kindergarten. However we also know that toddlers who begin kindergarten with a good grounding in six skill areas have a head start and a higher success rate than toddlers lacking these basic skills. The skills that ease transition into kindergarten and help lead to a successful kindergarten year fall into these basic areas: listening and sequencing, cognitive skills, language skills, social emotional skills, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills.

If we do not think our toddler is ready for kindergarten we are able to contact our local school district or elementary school to talk to someone regarding our toddler. They are able to meet with us and our toddler (and do necessary assessments) to decide if our toddler is ready or needs an extra year.
